Description

It would be nice to be able to have sound alerts for various things. Such as when a friends log on and maybe a different one for when they log off. Alerts for chat messages or IM's.

I would find this useful as I use a text client when I'm multitasking and using other programs. I tend to miss important events that occur without sound notifications.

  • Minor - Minor loss of function, or other problem where easy workaround is present.
  • Closed - The issue is considered finished, the resolution is correct. Issues which are closed can be reopened.

Have you tried enabling the speech plugin (Plugins -> Speech). It does pretty much what you describe, plus reads out loud incoming chat and IMs. The latest build allows the speech plugin to be loaded at any point, not only on startup (this will be in 1.16).
